“Time and energy create the body; it reproduces and dies, and drifts back into flux. As we move across the earth, the imprints of past lives remain, unseen but not unfelt. If we see it as a pattern, we can try to understand, but the pattern is only our own conception, no more.”

the sails represent exploration, physical as well as mental, and adventure; seeking new things and bringing new things to faraway places.

"sails" refers to the maritime history of St Petersburg and Kronstadt. Constructed from the pages of old history books (German, Russian and English), the sails construct alternative narratives of history in the imperial age, and as the sails waft in the summer breeze through open windows in the old house, past and present come together.

installed in the Store House, the video is an environmental montage loop of the many bridges of St Petersburg, mixing classic film footage with present material, again bringing the past and present together in a visceral way. Soundtrack by Christian Glass
