LUNA NERA IN BELFAST
Luna Nera participated n the exhibition series "Urban Clearance" curated by Peter Mutschler at the Gallery PS2 Project Space, Belfast.
"Rediscovering the city as urban playground and
dispelling the anomie of urban life is one of the tasks and responsibilities
of the contemporary urban artist, to involve and invoke the relationship
between the citizens and their city. This is particularly important
when the urban landscape has been scarred and rendered unusable
as genuinely public space."

“… in the urban playground “
Luna Nera chose the Drawing Offices (right, centre)
of the former Harland & Wolff Headquarters as the focal point
for their artistic exploration. Luna Nera created site-responsive
installations, live art and video-projection in the Drawing Offices.
In this once world leading creative powerhouse for the design
of ships (including the Titanic) in Belfast, the project analyses
its dormant potential and the relationship between the remains
of the area, its buildings and waterfront, with the grand structures
and remarkable landscape overlooking the city.
The multi-media documentation of the event and new art works responding
to the experience of the building, were exhibited
at PS2, Donegall Street. |
